Tony Gaboury

Tony Gaboury

Tony Gaboury first learned to play the guitar on an unplayable instrument left in a chair by his music loving alcoholic uncle. Although Tony never actually played that particular instrument, he did ponder the possibilities of what might happen should he make an attempt at playing such an uncooperative guitar. Most of the first 10 years of his life were spent considering these possibilities.

In his 10th year he was fortunate to study with French accordianist extraordinare Leo Pepin from the french Quarter of Augusta Maine. It was here that Tony purchased his first real guitar and amplifier...the classic Marvel guitar and amp series. Here he learned to read actual notes on the guitar, which helped him learn such classics as "Pipeline","No Matter What Shape Your Stomachs in" and of course that big Johnny Rivers hit "Secret Agent Man."

After 3 years of reluctant guitar lessons Tony decided to go on his own. With help from his brothers John Mayall records he discovered the blues. Eric Clapton Mick Taylor and Mike Bloomfield we're particular favorites. He proceeded to learn many songs and solos from his brothers now ruined record collection.

After an unsuccessful high school career Tony had the misfortune of a dangerously low draft number, which prompted him to re-establish ties with his family in Quebec. After brushing up on his French and packing his bags for the motherland, the war finally ended, allowing him to continue his career in music. He then joined the famous rock band Biggy Rat where he was a member for 5 years touring New Englands livliest biker-bars.
